Discord fonts vs Discord markdown

Discord has built-in markdown for **bold**, *italic*, __underline__ and ~~strikethrough~~ in messages. Those only work in chat. Unicode fonts from this tool also work where markdown does not, such as nicknames, About Me, and server or channel names.

How Unicode text styles work

These are not installed fonts. Each style swaps ordinary letters for look-alike characters from the Unicode standard, such as the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block. Because they are characters, not formatting, you can copy and paste them into any app that accepts text.

Not every app or older phone has every symbol. If a character shows up as an empty box, pick a different style. Screen readers may read some styles letter by letter or skip them, so keep your name and key words in plain text and use styled text for accents.
