Linktree Not Working? 8 Fixes to Try in 2026

Updated September 2026 · By Joseph Pugliese, founder of Linklay

If Linktree is not working, first determine whether the problem is the Linktree page itself, the browser or social app opening it, your network, or one individual destination link. The fastest first test is to copy the Linktree URL and open it directly in a normal browser.

If the page still fails, work through the checks below. Linktree's own support guidance recommends common troubleshooting steps such as trying another browser, clearing browser data, disabling a VPN or ad blocker, and checking Linktree's status page when access problems occur.

1. Open the Linktree URL directly

Copy the exact Linktree URL from the social profile and paste it into a normal browser such as Safari, Chrome, Firefox, or Edge.

If the Linktree works in the browser but not inside Instagram, TikTok, or another app, the problem may be the app's in-app browser rather than Linktree itself.

Try:

  1. opening the social post or profile,
  2. copying the Linktree URL,
  3. leaving the app,
  4. pasting the URL into your browser,
  5. and testing the page again.

If it works there, you have narrowed the problem significantly.

2. Check whether Linktree is having an outage

Linktree maintains an official service-status page at status.linktr.ee.

Check that page before changing your account when the whole service appears unavailable, pages are loading unusually slowly, or login is failing for multiple people.

If Linktree reports an incident, wait for the service issue to be resolved rather than repeatedly changing your links or profile settings.

5. Try another browser or device

A browser extension, stale cache, blocked script, or local browser setting can break a page that works normally elsewhere.

Test the same Linktree on:

  • another browser,
  • a private or incognito window,
  • another phone or computer,
  • and mobile data instead of Wi-Fi.

If the problem disappears on another device, the Linktree account itself is probably not the root cause.

6. Clear cache and cookies, then disable VPNs or blockers temporarily

Linktree's login troubleshooting guidance recommends clearing cache and cookies and testing with VPNs, ad blockers, or browser extensions disabled when access fails.

Use this only as a diagnostic step. You do not need to permanently remove privacy or security tools simply because one website is misbehaving.

After testing, re-enable the tools you normally use.

7. Check the social app's in-app browser

Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and other apps can open links inside embedded browsers rather than your normal browser.

If Linktree works in Safari or Chrome but not inside the social app:

  1. update the social app,
  2. close and reopen it,
  3. try the link again,
  4. use the app's option to open the page in your external browser when available,
  5. and test whether other external websites also fail inside the app.

If several websites fail only inside the in-app browser, the problem is unlikely to be specific to your Linktree.

8. Test the public page as a visitor

Do not rely only on what you see while logged into the Linktree dashboard.

Open the public URL:

  • in a private browser window,
  • while logged out,
  • from another device,
  • and, if possible, from another network.

Tap every important button.

This catches problems that are easy to miss when you only preview the page from the editor.

What if Linktree still is not working?

If the page still fails after these checks:

  1. save screenshots of the error,
  2. record the device, browser, app, and network where it happens,
  3. note whether the full Linktree or one link is affected,
  4. check the official status page again,
  5. and contact Linktree support with the specific reproduction steps.

If you need your profile links available immediately and do not want to wait for a service issue to be resolved, you can temporarily use a direct website URL or another link-in-bio page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my Linktree not opening?

The cause can be a Linktree outage, an in-app browser issue, your network, a browser extension, a VPN, or a problem with the page itself. Open the URL directly in a normal browser first.

Why are my Linktree links not showing?

Check that each link has a valid title and URL and is active or visible in your Linktree configuration.

How do I know if Linktree is down?

Check Linktree's official status page at status.linktr.ee for current incidents.

Why does Linktree work in Chrome but not Instagram?

That points toward a problem with the social app's in-app browser or app state rather than the public Linktree page itself.

What can I use if Linktree is not working?

You can temporarily link directly to your website or use another link-in-bio page while you troubleshoot the issue.
