Instagram content appears in several different surfaces, and a file that looks right in the feed can crop differently in the profile grid, Stories or Reels. This hub collects the current production sizes for profile photos, Reels, Stories, carousels, grid previews, Highlight covers and ads, with clear labels when Instagram publishes a hard requirement versus when a number is a practical working size.

  • Instagram Profile Picture Size — Use a 320 × 320 px square image for an Instagram profile picture.
  • Instagram Carousel Size — Use 1080 × 1350 px at 4:5 for a portrait Instagram carousel when you want a conservative feed-first format.
  • Instagram Grid Size — For grid-sensitive Instagram artwork, use a 3:4 preview and 1080 × 1440 px as a practical working canvas.
  • Instagram Highlight Cover Size — Use 1080 × 1920 px at 9:16 as the working canvas for an Instagram Highlight cover, then keep the actual icon centered because the profile displays the cover as a circle.
  • Instagram Ad Size — For feed image ads, use a feed-friendly square or portrait asset such as 1080 × 1080 or 1080 × 1350.
